Igede Youth Council has, in its 2021 national convention, elected new officials to pilot its affairs for the next two years, retaining Comr Andyson Iji Egbodo as national president and electing Comr Stanley Oboh as national vice president.
Amb. Smith Akoko was elected national secretary, Comr David Omirigbe as Assistant Secretary, Ikoni Matsolace as Director Special Duties, Innocent Ike as Provost Marshall, Comr Hardy Ogbu Owulo as Publicity Secretary and Godwin Ohekwuru Akobo as Welfare Secretary. Others are Eunice Agwu, Director, Women affairs and Grace Ogebe as National Treasurer.

Inaugurating the new officials, Barr Obia Sunday charged the new youth leaders to maintain the tempo of passion for community services of the out-going Council executives.

The legal practitioner thanked the former leaders for leaving a sound legacy of positive youth activism.

In a reaction, Comrade Andyson Iji Egbodo who got a unanimous vote of confidence from Igede Youths to continue to serve them as President for another two years appreciated the entire Igede youths for the support given to his leadership in the past and beseeched them to continue with their support, saying that only the executives cannot do much for the entire Igede nation.

Comrade Andyson cautioned all the businessmen and women in Igedeland who are taking advantage of the prevailing bad economic conditions in Nigeria to exploit the people by hiking prices of goods and services to have a change of mind.
Andyson noted that Okada riders charge N200 for a drop regardless of distance, then meat sellers and satchet water producers who have all gone against the ideal prices of their commodities.

While condemning the hike as barbaric, the youth president said if those perpetrating such economic hardship on the people do not heed to the voice of reason, the youths will be compelled to drag them before the federal price regulatory agencies.

Still speaking, Com. Andyson called on the senator representing Benue South, Comrade Abba Moro and Member representing Oju/Obi Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Samson Okwu to move motions in their different Chambers urging the Federal Government to declare state of emergency on Otukpo-Oju road.

The youth leader pointed out that the road is the worst federal road in the whole of Nigeria, and that for each of the four attempts to rehabilitate the road, contractors only rehabilitated it from Otukpo metropolis and ended their works after four kilometers.

Consequently, Igede Youth Council leadership gave the latest contractor handling the road to return to site and further hinted that Igede Youths will not hesitate to call the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into the matter at the expiration of the ultimatum should the contractor fail to return to complete the rehabilitation of the road.
