Channels TV in trouble!

*Uso, Okikiola, arrested

*NBC slams station with query

Chambalain Uso

All seems not to be too well with Nigeria’s multiple award winning television station, Channels TV, as a set of measures are reportedly being taken against it by vested authorities over some of the interviews it conducted on its breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, which are currently raising a lot of dust within the polity, whirlwindnews.com is reporting.

NewsmakersNG, is reporting that two of the anchors of the popular programme, Chambalain Uso and Kayode Okikiola were whisked away on Thursday by men, said to be operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), while another report indicates that the station has been fired with a query by the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) over the same issue.

The measures by the two agencies, were reportedly over the interviews station had with Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State during which he accused President Muhammadu Buhari of promoting a Fulanisation agenda, and another guest, Commodore Kunle Olawunmi (rtd) who revealed that people who are high up in the Buhari’s government are sponsors of Boko Haram.

The report quoted Usoh, lead anchor and producer of the programme, as confirming the development to the online platform, on the telephone, though he reportedly said he did not know yet where they were being taken to.

On the other hand the NBC in a letter entitled: Notice of Infraction, fired to the station dated August 24, 2021 and signed by its Director General, Balarabe Ilelah, is also querying the station over the “inciting, divisive and unfair comments” made by Ortom, on the same programme on Tuesday.
