Hon Ottah Agbo Francis, member representing Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, has spoken on Rt. Hon. Samson Okwu’s fourth term bid, saying it’s for Igede people’s benefit.
Hon. Agbo made the remarks while addressing a mammoth crowd at Obusa on the occasion of the Thanksgiving Service organised by Very Rev Fr Paul Inwata, to mark the birthday of Rt Hon Samson Okwu today the 6th of June , 2021 .
Hon Agbo told the Igede people to look beyond the personal interest of Rt Hon Okwu in the fourth term bid, noting that the latter has built an integrity in the National Assembly that is capable of securing the seat of the Deputy Speaker .
He regretted that the ugly interruption in his inauguration with other House members deprived him of a Principal Office.
He said, however, that he was consoled by the fact that Rt Hon Okwu was honoured with the Chairman of North Central PDP Caucus in the House of Reps.
Hon Agbo said: “this is an indication that better things are awaiting him at the House of Representatives.”
He gave the assurance of the support of Benue PDP members for Rt Hon Okwu in his journey to the seat of Deputy Speaker of the green Chamber .
In a swift response, Hon (Sir) Godwin Owulo, Chairman, Zone C PDP, said the party will definitely use the track records of Rt Hon Okwu to propel him to the plum seat of the Deputy Speaker.
Hon Owulo poured eulogies on the third-time member representing Oju/Obi Federal Constituency, stating that no leader before him had held the party with such wisdom, love and humanitarian gestures.
He expressed doubt if the PDP could find any alternative to him beyond 2023.
Very Rev Fr Inwata capped the appeals of PDP leaders present at the ceremony by asking God to grant Rt Hon Okwu ‘s fourth term ambition, to enable him do more for the people of Ainu Community in particular and Igede at large .
Prof. Iba Omenka, son of the soil, was emphatic in giving Rt Hon Okwu the automatic go-ahead to 2023, noting that the “cricket voices” agitating to topple him in 2023 were inconsequential.
While appreciating the unflinching unity of purpose in Oju/Obi PDP family, Prof. Omenka urged them to sustain it by rallying Rt Hon Okwu for the fourth term.
